Fidel Castro’s Message to the Cuban Parliament

Message to the National Assembly read by comrade Fidel:

At the beginning, only eight weeks ago, I thought there was no possible solution to the imminent danger of a war. The situation before my eyes was so tragic that I thought there was no other way out but the possibility of survival -quite likely perhaps- in the region of this hemisphere that had no reason to become a target of direct attack, as well as some isolated regions of the planet.

It was very difficult, knowing that human beings always cling to some sort of perspective, however remote.

Despite everything, I tried.

Fortunately, it did not take me long to realize that there was one hope, and a very profound one to be sure.  However, if that possibility was lost, the disaster could lead to the worst consequences. The human species would then have no possible salvation.

Nevertheless, I strongly believe this will not be the case, and on the contrary, the conditions are now being created for a situation that was unimaginable until recently.

One man will have to make this decision on his own: the United States president. Quite certainly, given his many tasks, he has not realized that yet, but his advisers are beginning to understand that. That can be seen by the simple steps taken, such as ending the torture inflicted on Gerardo, something that had not been done in 12 years of that system’s implacable hatred for Cuba and for him. Today, one could predict that the next step would be authorization for Adriana to visit him in prison, or his immediate release, or both. It was through Adriana that I learned his morale is higher than ever, after 12 years of unjust and cruel imprisonment.

Given the fact that Iran will not give an inch to the demands of the United States and Israel, which have already mobilized several of the means of warfare at their disposal, they would have to launch the attack as soon as the deadline expires that was set by the Security Council on June 9, 2010, with the established rules and requirements.

Everything that man hopes to achieve has its limit, which he cannot surpass.

In this critical case, President Barack Obama is the one who would have to give the order for this attack foretold and publicized, following the rules of the gigantic empire.

However, in giving that order, which moreover is the only one he could give considering the power, speed and countless number of nuclear missiles accumulated as a result of an absurd race among the world’s powers, he also would be ordering the immediate death not only of hundreds of millions of people, including an incalculable number of his own country’s citizens, but also the crew members of all U.S. vessels deployed in the seas surrounding Iran. The war would break out simultaneously in the Near and Far East, and  in all of Eurasia.

Fate would have it that, at that precise moment, the U.S. president would be a person of African and white, Islamic and Christian descent. HE WILL NOT GIVE THAT ORDER!!! if we help him become aware. And this is what we are doing here.

The leaders of the most powerful countries in the world, whether allies or adversaries, with the exception of Israel, would encourage him not to do it.

After that the world would then bestow upon him all the honors he might deserve.

The current established world order would not endure, and would inevitably collapse soon afterward.

The so-called hard currencies would lose their value as an instrument of the system that has exacted a contribution of limitless wealth, sweat and sacrifice from the peoples.

New forms of distributing goods and services, education and the management of social processes will peacefully emerge, but if a war breaks out, the current social order will disappear abruptly at a much higher cost.

The planet’s population can be regulated; non-renewable resources could be preserved; climate change could be prevented; all human beings could be guaranteed useful employment; the sick could be treated; essential knowledge, culture and science in the service of man could be guaranteed. The children, adolescents and youth of the world will not perish in that nuclear holocaust.

This is the message I wanted to convey to you, dear comrades of our National Assembly.

I am now ready to account for my words, answer the questions you may want to ask me and listen to your opinions.

Thank you very much (Applause).
